Ahoy everyone!
It has been a while since we last did a blog post, but this is a super exciting time for the team and we wanted to write down just how much this means to us.
This is a huge moment for us as this will be our very first game playable on a game console which is something a lot of us only dreamt about when we were in university.
As a lot of you may know, we were a bunch of friends who all met at university and shared the same dream of creating our own games. We didn't have any seniors to look up to or to ask help from, so getting a game onto a console looked like it would forever be out of our reach.
We never believed our first big game, Monstrum, would do so well and we are extremely happy with how it was received. Because of this we were able to keep doing what we love – creating our own games! However, we needed to come up with our next big project as Monstrum's dev cycle was ending soon. We decided to take the same approach we did with Monstrum and let each member of the team pitch a game idea. The team then voted on the one they liked the most and we quickly made a couple of prototypes.
Originally, Attack of the Earthlings was going to be a lot more serious in nature but, after a few fun ideas thrown to us by the designers, we decided to go for the dark humour route. Our main inspirations being the IT Crowd and X-Com.
We wanted to create a game that would make people laugh – probably to make up for all those screams Monstrum provided! It is also a game that allowed us to try creating something that was completely new and fresh for us.
We had the pleasure of meeting Wales Interactive at EGX. They loved the idea of Attack of the Earthlings due to it's dark humour, which reminded them of Coffin Dodgers – a game they had released a while back.
Wales Interactive have done a brilliant job of porting Attack of the Earthlings from PC to the consoles and we can't wait for you all to have a bash at nibbling on some pesky earthlings.
Attack of the Earthlings is landing on PS4 and Xbox One on March the 5th 2019 so keep your eyes peeled for it in the stores!
